you hadn't heard, we are now calling ourselves "The Threads". The
web address will be www.thethreads.us.
Our next show is New Years Eve as part of the First Night celebration in downtown
St. Petersburg. We will be performing from 7pm till 8:30pm on the The Flamingo

Hello Friends! Don't forget this Friday, Nov. 19th, our new project, Starduster,
is playing at the Emerald in St. Pete. Our good friends Four Star Riot will
be rocking with us also.
Busy, Busy Busy! Work continues on the Sparky's Nightmare recording. John McNicholas was in the studio and recorded a great version of the Ramones "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend" for a WMNF compilation. I have finished recording vocals for 4 Starduster tunes. Thursday, Stan and I will be tracking 2 new songs for the Starduster project.
See you Friday! XO - Brian

Rehearsing tonight with Starduster. What are your plans for this weekend? Well, if you are looking for something to do, how about joining me at the Chica Boom Room in Dunedin this Saturday Oct. 30th to see/hear Mark and Stan rockin' (surfin', swinging, R&B'n and generally makin' some booty shak'n) with the Vodkanauts! There is a costume contest and other assorted fun stuff happening. See ya there!
Wednesday 10.13.04
It's Wednesday and I have already had a big rock and roll week. On Monday, I recorded drum tracks for Sparky's Nightmare. Sparky's drum phenom, Hugh Williams, laid down some great takes with his new Gretsch
kit. I love the sound of his drums!
Last night we had Starduster rehearsal. I can't wait for you to hear us!
The 3-part harmony and twin guitar attack keeps me smiling. Another show? YES! On New Years Eve! The City of St. Petersburg contacted Stan requesting Barely Pink to play First Night (St. Pete's alcohol free New Years Eve event)
at Jannus Landing. Well, we told them Barely Pink was no more, but that our new band would be happy to play! We will be performing a 90 minute set from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
on the big stage! Two other great artists, Urbane Cowboys and Red Tide, are also scheduled to play. I'll keep you posted as we add more dates to our calendar. In the "tooting my horn" category, I am appearing in several print adds over the next few months in Guitar World and Guitar World Acoustic Magazine for Warner Bros. Publications. The adds have a big ol' stylized pic of me promoting their instuctional series of DVD's Here is a PDF of one of them WB Ad. - Brian

Finally! I can sit down and write. Between dodging hurricanes and working
the new job, I haven't had a moment to write an update. As I had mentioned
last time, Ted asked me to sing some of his tunes for a new recording.
Well, it sounded so good ("good" is an understatement, it sounds
outstanding) we decided to make it a band and call ourselves "Starduster".
Stan and Mike from Barely Pink are on drums and bass respectively, and Ted
and Sonny from Hangtown/Distractions on guitars. I'll have a song or two posted
soon for you to check out. We will be playing our first officially advertised
show at the Emerald Bar in St. Pete on Friday, November 19th with our buds 4 Star
Riot. I'll get a web site up for the new band soon at www.starduster.net.
You can always check back here for updates. Drop
me an email anytime! See you soon! - Brian

We were lucky here in Tampa Bay, Charley completely missed us, it barely even
rained here! We hope all of our friends south of us are safe and sound. Today
I am taking the family to the beach for a couple of hours. Later in the afternoon
I am recording samples and editing tracks for Tom Nestor's new project. Also,
Ted Lukas asked me to
sing on a couple of his tracks that I will be working on this evening (he
has some new fun rocking tunes).
Thursday 8.12.04
Had a busy week, so I haven't uploaded anything new. We've battened down the
hatches in preparation for Hurricane Charley. I am heading to Limey's tonight
to meet John McNicholas
for beer (Guinness!). So, if you are close, meet us up there! (Or down there
depending on where you live). After tonight we will be riding the storm out
and soon after we will start cleaning up the mess that Charley leaves us.

Wow! I found a long lost track we had recorded called "Hope
You're Happy Now" for an Elvis Costello Tribute CD on a site called
"Elvis
Costello Mystery Covers". The CD was never released and we lost track
of the recording. Anyway, I added it to the the downloads page for you to
enjoy! Download and pass it around.
I added our version of Teenage Fanclubs "Don't Look Back" to the BP Jukebox. This tune appears on the Teenage Fanclub Tribute "What a Concept" on Notlame Records. I added the Stones tunes we recorded to the download page. We had a server crash and lost a lot of our media, but I will have more downloads uploaded in the next few days.
Sunday 8.8.04
A big thanks to everyone who made it out for our last show! We video taped
and recorded the show for a future DVD release, so keep an eye out for it.
I will be posting information here as often as I can about my new project
and future Barely Pink releases.
Mike, Stan and I recorded with Ted Lukas and Chris Irvin, the New York Dolls tune "Mystery Girls" for a tribute CD that is coming out on Fast Records. We called the one-off side project "Phase 90". I'll post the release date as soon as they let me know.
If you have questions or comments or just want to say hello, drop me an amyl at barelypink@aol.com.
Cheers,
Brian
